Training as a Pathfinder Leader is essential due to the unique nature of Pathfinders and its various events and activities. Leading our Pathfinders is a spiritual vocation in which we are blessed to be a part of. Furthermore, there are government compliance regulations that we need to adhere to, in order to keep our Pathfinders safe and at minimal risk. The following will help you understand the journey that we are on as a conference, and what direction we are taking in training our Pathfinder Leaders.
For the Junior Pathfinder Leaders who are looking to start their training, this training is the first step you will need to take. Depending on the pace at which you would like to invest in the training, you should be able to complete your Master Guide booklet in one year. If you do not have a Master Guide booklet, you will be able to receive a copy at this training event. Your booklet is to be signed by your Club Director throughout the year. After completion it must be assessed, and signed, by your District Director or Youth Director before you are approved to be invested as a Master Guide.
In this booklet you are to complete:
New skills development: Attend 10 hours of conference sponsored seminars.” The required 10 hours will be offered at this training event. Be sure to attend to get your booklet signed off!
This year we will be running Year 1 of the Pathfinder Leadership Award (PLA).
Depending on the pace at which you would like to invest in the training, you should be able to complete your Pathfinder Leadership Award booklet in two years. If you do not have a Pathfinder Leadership Award booklet, you will be able to receive a copy at this training event depending on availability. Your booklet is to be signed by your District Director during the year. It then must be assessed and signed by your District Director or Youth director before you are approved to be invested with your PLA badge.
New skills development: This component needs to be completed at a conference training event, and will be offered at this event this year and will be facilitated by Union Youth Director Pr Jeff Parker.
After the training weekend you can then complete the rest of the work required to complete this training from home.
